Black Tap Craft Burgers & Shakes celebrated their official grand opening this past Saturday. Vanessa Hudgens of High School Musical fame was on hand to help Mickey, Minnie, Chef Goofy, and Disney proper welcome Black Tap to the Downtown Disney District. In addition to the food offerings at the event, Black Tap provided small versions of their Crazy Shakes. Keep in mind that the actual shakes are much larger than the ones pictured.
Sweet & Salty ($15.00)
This shake is a peanut butter shake with a chocolate and peanut butter frosted rim with chocolate gems and PB Cups topped with a Sugar Daddy®, pretzel rods, chocolate covered pretzel, whipped cream, caramel and chocolate drizzle. There is a lot going on here, but it works. The peanut butter shake by itself is delicious. The toppings were a fun, sweet addition. It can be a little daunting to eat the toppings and get to the shake. We recommend ordering these crazy shakes with the mindset of sharing – they are big (and expensive). This particular shake was my personal favorite.
Bam Bam Shake ($15.00)
The Bam Bam Shake is a Fruity Pebbles® Shake with a vanilla frosted rim with Fruity Pebbles topped with a Fruity Pebbles Rice Krispy Treat, Strawberry Pop-Tarts®, Laffy Taffy®, whipped cream and a cherry. This shake awakened my childhood cereal memories. Fruity Pebbles® work well in shake form. This was one of our daughters favorite shake and I can see why. The bright colors and the delightful taste will win over lots of people. The toppings? Pick through them carefully so you don’t spill precious shake, but they worked well.
Cookies ‘n Cream Supreme ($15.00)
One drink and bite of the toppings from this shake and our youngest daughter declared “this is good!” This shake is an Oreo® Shake with a vanilla frosted rim with crushed Oreo topped with a ‘Cookies ‘n Cream’ sandwich, crumbled Oreo, whipped cream, and chocolate drizzle. If you like cookies ‘n cream ice cream or shakes, then this is the one for you.
Cookie Shake ($15.00)
Is it too simplistic to say that I felt like I was eating cookies with sweet milk? Nah, that’s the perfect description. This is the ultimate chocolate chip cookie, vanilla ice cream, cookie sandwich, and shake hybrid. It is a vanilla cookie shake with a vanilla frosted rim with cookie crumbles topped with a “Cookiewich”, crumbled cookies, chocolate chips, whipped cream, and chocolate drizzle. Does that sound good? Then this could be the shake for you!
Brooklyn Blackout ($15.00)
Chocolate lovers rejoice – this is the shake for you. It is a chocolate shake with a chocolate frosted rim with mini chocolate chips topped with two chocolate brownies, whipped cream and chocolate drizzle. This decadent shake was rich and satisfying. The brownies were actually my favorite aspect of this shake – so good.
Cotton Candy ($17.00)
This shake is a strawberry shake with a vanilla frosted rim with blue, pink and pearl chocolates topped with a pink lollipop, blue and pink rock candy, whipped cream, and cotton candy. To read our full review of this item click HERE.
Thank you to Black Tap Anaheim for inviting us to your celebration. Our family had a great time. The food was good, the shakes were good, and the atmosphere was electric. There are a few shake options that we didn’t try, but they also looked great (looking at you “Cake Shake”). Black Tap is most certainly a great addition to the Downtown Disney District!
