On the most recent Inside Disney podcast Disneyland President Ken Potrock dropped some big information. He talked briefly about the Jungle Cruise reopening timeframe, the Blue Bayou restaurant reopening timeframe, and when we can expect a new Disneyland Annual Passholder Membership Program.
Jungle Cruise Update
The first bit of news is that the Jungle Cruise attraction at Disneyland will be reopening “this summer”. While no specific date was given, this at least gives us a timeframe. We recently learned that the final corner on the Jungle Cruise attraction has a new ending scene headed its way. As guests come to the final corner before departing they’ll no longer see Trader Sam, but rather a new Lost & Found Gift Shop featuring lost and found items that Sam has decided to sell.
Blue Bayou Update
Potrock also talked briefly about the Blue Bayou Restaurant. He said that the restaurant will reopen shortly after April 30th. No specific date was given, but this gives us hope for a soon return for this restaurant. Recently, we learned that the Blue Bayou will serve alcoholic beverages when they reopen. If you recall, the Disney Parks Blog had this to say about it “The new additions will complement the menu and theme of the restaurant, with beverages such as wine, beer, and a specialty Hurricane Cocktail – a New Orleans staple! Or, you may want to try the new celebration sparkling wine package. Soon, you’ll be able to pair them with the restaurant’s delicious menu items, like the popular Surf and Turf. Also, keep an eye out for new, seasonal takes on our Mint Julep non-alcoholic beverage. Stay tuned for more on Blue Bayou.”
New Annual Passholder Membership Program Coming By Years End
Disneyland Annual Passholders were canceled in January of this year and have been anxiously awaiting news of a new Annual Pass Membership Program to replace what was lost. On the podcast, Potrock pointed to a new Annual Pass Membership Program coming before the end of this year. He stated “We had sunsetted the annual pass program, and we needed to do that really for two incredibly important reasons. One, because of the capacity constraints…, and two because we thought this was a great opportunity for us to reimagine an annual pass program that wasn’t just built on the last couple of decades, but was built on how our guests and our fans wanted to use the parks going forward.” No details were given on when the program will be unveiled or what the new membership offerings will look like, but it does give hope for those holding out for a new Annual Pass Membership Program to be offered to guests.
I dont understand the hold until the end of the year on passes. For some, that is the only way they can go to the parks more then once a year. Haven’t people been through enough in 2020? Sounds like the parks are just trying to get the fans to go broke to cover their losses from the shut down. I expect more from this company.
We too are anxiously awaiting a new annual pass offering.
Can’t wait for the annual pass!!!!
