Plaza Inn (Disneyland Park – Main Street U.S.A.)
Breakfast at Plaza Inn
Plaza Inn is home to our favorite Character Breakfast experience “Minnie & Friends“. You can’t go wrong with any of the character breakfasts, but this one has the best combination of characters and food options in our opinion. Here are the main food items available at this buffet (as of April, 2019):
- Various dry cereals (milk is available to add)
- Omelet Station
- Scrambled eggs
- Bacon and sausage
- Biscuits & Gravy
- French Toast
- Mickey Waffles
- Various breads, fruits, and pastries
In terms of the characters you have classic characters (Winnie the Pooh, Fairy Godmother, Minnie Mouse, Pinnochio) while you also get lesser available characters like Max (Goofy’s nephew). We’ve attended this with our two daughters and the time spent with the characters and the quality of the food made it worth every penny in our opinion.
Cost is $34 for adults and $19 for kids aged 3-9 (kids under 3 eat free).
Lunch & Dinner at Plaza Inn
The Plaza Inn is one the most iconic places to eat at Disneyland Park. From the delicious meals to the classic setting the Plaza Inn is on our list of “must try at least once” restaurants. Here at the entree options if you go at lunch or dinner:
- Fried Chicken ($17.99) – This is one of the best meals you can get at the Disneyland Resort. You are given three pieces of golden fried chicken, mashed potatoes, a buttermilk biscuit, and vegetables (typically green beans). You are able to make substitutions (get double mashed potatoes or double vegetables). I often say, as my highest compliment, that this fried chicken reminds me of my grandmother’s fried chicken. It is a large enough meal to share, or if you have a big appetite it will fill you up.
- Pot Roast ($18.99) – If the fried chicken is the most famous meal at Plaza Inn, the Pot roast isn’t far behind. It is slow-roasted and served with vegetables, a buttermilk biscuit, mashed potatoes, and gravy. There are few restaurants where I would gladly order the Pot Roast and Plaza Inn is one of them. Highly recommend this meal for people who enjoy Pot Roast.
- Chipotle-Pineapple Glazed Salmon ($18.49) – The Chipotle-Pineapple Glazed Salmon is topped with a kiwi-mango relish and comes served with rice pilaf and vegetables. We have never had this meal personally, but have heard that it is a good option for people who enjoy salmon.
- Penne Pasta ($14.99) – The Penne Pasta comes topped with one of 3 sauces (Marinara Sauce, Bolognese/meat Sauce, or Chicken Pesto Alfredo Sauce). It comes served with a bread stick and is topped with parmesan cheese. The Chicken Pesto Alfredo Sauce is probably our personal favorite, but that is completely subjective. We’ve found the marinara and bolognese sauces to be a touch on the watery side (not always, but sometimes). That being said, we have enjoyed all three varieties.
- Apple Salad ($13.49) – This tossed salad blend comes with chicken, green apples, blue cheese crumbles, chopped candied walnuts, cranberries, and comes served with sweet apple vinaigrette dressing.
- Kids can get a baked chicken leg ($7.99) or a kid sized portion of penne pasta with marinara sauce ($6.99). Both come with apple sauce and choice of milk or water. The penne pasta also comes with baby carrots. The baked chicken leg comes with mashed potatoes (rather than carrots). Our daughter absolutely loves eating the penne pasta here.
As previously mentioned, this is one of the best restaurants at the Disneyland Resort for the typical Disney customer. You don’t need a reservation to enjoy lunch or dinner, but we recommend you make a reservation if you want to attend the Minnie and Friends character breakfast. Call (714) 781-3463 to make a reservation or use the official Disneyland app.
