Yesterday, Disney announced on their Parks Blog that they are adding a new annual pass option for people to consider. The new annual passport option is called the “Disney Flex Passport.” It will be available starting May 21st for $599 per person. This pass will join the four pass levels currently available (Southern California Select Passport, Deluxe Passport, Signature Passport, and the Signature Plus Passport).
Here are some highlights from what Disney announced in terms of information about the new pass:
- Enjoy More Flexibility – Get admission to one or both parks* on “Good to Go” dates, plus the opportunity for even more with a new reservation feature unique to this pass.
- Make reservations by visiting the My Annual Passports page (coming soon) of the Disneyland website or the Tickets and Passes screen on the Disneyland app.
- You can make reservations for other Disney Flex Passholders whose passports are linked to your Disney account.
- Reservations can be made up to 30 days in advance.
- Each Disney Flex Passport can hold 2 reservations during a 30-day window.
- If you have 2 reservations during a 30-day window, you’ll have the opportunity to make another once your first reservation date has passed or if you cancel an existing reservation.

Flex Passport Calendars
Here are pictures of the calendars for both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. As you can see you will have a handful of days in most months that are days when you will be able to visit the Parks without making a reservation, but most of the good days and/or weekend days will be days when a reservation is needed.
What do you think of the new annual passholder option? Does an annual passport with a few more steps to take before coming to the park turn you off? Is it the right mix of value and pricing? This new option is intriguing. Whether it is a good value or not will depend on the ease with which people are able to make reservations. It might not be a great value if the good days to attend fill up too quickly. We are also curious about how this will affect weekend crowd sizes which are typically more crowded anyway. Time will tell how this goes.
Sounds like a bad idea personally, they will get so many complaints about people not being able to make a reservation
Yeah, we are definitely interested to see how easy the process is or isn’t. If it is extremely difficult to get a reservation then this pass will be a bust, but if it’s easy then I could see this being the future of how they treat the lower tier passes. I guess we will see!
