Build Your Own Droid at Droid Depot in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

Droid Depot Entrance – Star Wars; Galaxy’s Edge

Droid Depot is a workshop where you can assemble your very own, custom astromech droid. We made the remark that this is essentially a high tech version of the Build-a-Bear stuffed animals you can get at your local mall. I might be so bold as to say that this is better than building a stuffed animal though, but I might be biased as a Star Wars fanatic. Droid Depot is located near Savi’s Workshop. After entering Droid Depot (the lines have been long both times we visited) you can immediately see your two droid building options to your left in a wall cage.

All Droid Units Cost $99.99 (No Annual Passholder Discount)

First you must make your selection of BB-Series or R-Series (we chose the classic R-Series). The cost is $99.99 before tax. While we were paying for our droid we were given the option to add a personality chip for an additional $12.99. We chose the Resistance personality chip over the Smuggler chip or the First Order chip. Though there was no annual passholder discount on the actual droid unit, we did receive a discount on the $12.99 purchase of the chip.

Parts Station

After purchasing your Droid you head over to the Parts Station to begin collecting the unique pieces for your Droid! The baskets tell you which parts to pick up, and you wait as the conveyor belt brings the parts to you. You pick up the parts you want and leave the parts you don’t want on the belt.

R-Series – Dome, Body, Center Leg, & Set of Side-Legs

Our family was so pleased with the whole experience. I called him R5-D5 which sounded very Star Wars-y to me, but our 5 year old called him “Reddie,” and that is the name that has stuck! As we are able to visit Galaxy’s Edge in the future, we are looking forward to buying Reddie more components to add to the fun. We were told he would interact with the environment at Galaxy’s Edge, so we want to bring him back with us when the land opens to the public again on June 24th. We recommend the experience to anyone with the cash (“credits” in Galaxy’s Edge) to get one of these fun additions to the family. Another great experience is constructing your own lightsaber at Savi’s Workshop. Check out these opportunities when you visit Batuu at Galaxy’s Edge.

Reddie has gotten a lot of play time since coming home with us!
