Savi’s Workshop – Lightsaber Building Experience

We had the opportunity to build our very own lightsaber during our last visit to Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland. Savi’s Workshop is a place where you construct a lightsaber (“scrap metal”) under the guidance of one of Savi’s “Gatherers.” You start by meeting one of Savi’s Gatherers outside the workshop, where you choose one of 4 available hilt themes. After making your choice, you receive a pin to wear which identifies your selection. We wrote more in depth about the options and choices HERE if you want to read more about the options. The experience took about 20 minutes from the time that the Gatherers came for us in the courtyard. The cost recently increased to $219 in Walt Disney World, so it seems likely that this will be the new cost before tax at Disneyland. Reservations can be made up to 60 days in advance on the Disneyland Website or Disneyland app (click).

Waiting in line at Savi’s Workshop – this is when they show you the 4 theme choices for your lightsaber.
Peace & Justice Theme
Power & Control Theme (Dark Side)
Protection & Defense Theme
Elemental Nature Theme
I chose Elemental Nature (this card was in my hand only for a few moments)
The Elemental Nature Pin – I was given this to wear into Savi’s Workshop to build my Elemental Nature themed lightsaber
The complete experience on video – worth a watch!
My finished hilt – I chose a green kyber crystal (you can see me light it up in the video)

The whole experience was first class. The price point is high, but for Star Wars fans it really isn’t that much more expensive than the current Force FX and high end lightsabers in stores. Another big thing here is that you get to choose your theme and then choose from the different pieces to construct your lightsaber. I got the chills several times while building my lightsaber. As a huge bonus, you can purchase additional kyber crystals around the corner at Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities. I plan to slowly add to my kyber collection. If you are a Star Wars fan and want your very own lightsaber I highly recommend this experience.
