Halloween Time at Disneyland Park has been a great season of food, fun, and plenty of social media worthy picture opportunities so far. It almost seems odd to have celebrated Halloween for nearly a month while October has just arrived, but we won’t complain because we enjoy the celebrating! There are lots of options for filling your bellies, but we wanted to offer our opinion on which items are the best eats and treats for your hard-earned dollars. So here are the six things to eat before Halloween Time “rests in peace” at Disneyland Park.
Top Treats
Pan Dulce Ice Cream Sandwich from Rancho del Zocalo ($7.99 AP discount available) – Colorful concha (shell-like Mexican Sweet Bread) with dulce de leche ice cream, cajeta and churro streusel. This has been our overall winner for best new item this year. The churro streusel was my favorite part of this colorful, sweet dish. You MUST experience this before it goes away if you like any of the ingredients listed.
The Churro Sundae from the Golden Horseshoe ($7.49 AP discount available) – This item returns from last year, and I am so glad that it did, because it was one of the best desserts I’ve ever had at Disneyland, and that’s saying something! It is Cookie Dough Ice Cream with cookie butter sauce garnished with a cinnamon sugar dusted churro, cajeta (caramel) and whipped cream. Definitely should be at the top of your list and at $7.49 it is a steal (especially if you get the annual passholder discount). Yum!
Pumpkin Spice Beignets from Mint Julep Bar ($5.49 for 3; $8.99 for 6; mobile ordering available) – Mickey-shaped beignets dusted with pumpkin spice-flavored sugar. Some things are a classic this time of the year, which is why they stick around. Is it the greatest beignet you’ll ever get? No, you can find better beignets at Jazz Kitchen Express, BUT there is something magical about getting a hot beverage and sitting down to enjoy these scrumptious beignets in New Orleans Square this time of the year!
Tops Eats
The Long-Forgotten Dueling Tacos from Rancho del Zocalo ($13.49 AP discount available) – Two fry bread tacos featuring grilled fajita beef and braised butter chicken served with Mexican rice and pickled vegetables. These tacos are a holdover from the Haunted Mansion 50th celebration in August. We are glad they stayed. Ours wasn’t plated nearly as nicely as the production photograph Disney put out for the item (compare ours which is the first picture with the production photo which is second). The tacos had a surprising amount of flavor considering they are a theme park option. Squeezing the fresh lime on my tacos made them quite tasty! Rancho del Zocalo can get busy, so have some patience – these are worth the wait.
Toasted Salsa Roja Chicken Sandwich Combo from Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe ($10.99 AP discount available; mobile ordering available) – Salsa roja shredded chicken on rustic bread with Jack and cotija cheeses served with tortilla soup. This soup and sandwich combo is a great meal combo. I enjoyed this way more than I thought I would. The toasty bread with that shredded chicken has me wanting to come back for this again, especially if we get a cold afternoon/evening!
Professor Phineas Plump’s Cure-All Fritters from Royal Street Veranda ($5.49 AP discount available; mobile ordering available) – Pimento cheese fritters with ghost pepper ranch dressing. These are another savory holdover from the Haunted Mansion 50th celebration, but they land on our list of eats due to how amazing they taste! I seriously thought about going back for more even though I wasn’t hungry the first time I ordered these. I liked it both with the sauce and without, but if you made me pick which was better I’d take it with the sauce!
Honorable Mention
Specialty Halloween Popcorn Buckets – Disneyland has delicious, salty popcorn, and we are in love with all 3 of their Halloween themed buckets. Below is a picture of the annual passholder exclusive Purple Cauldron Bucket. They also have a Mickey Pumpkin Balloon bucket and an Oogie Boogie bucket. ** note that the buckets sell out quickly and may be gone by the time you visit Disneyland
That’s all we have – for now. There is still a month to try the eats, treats, and drinks available in Disneyland Park. We hope you have a magical experience eating and drinking your way through Disneyland during this spook-tacular time of year!
