In a surprising turn of events, California Governor Gavin Newsom has decided to lift the current stay-at-home restrictions he has imposed on much of the state since early December. In a letter to restaurant owners, the California Restaurant Association revealed that officials with Gov. Newsom’s office plan to lift the stay-at-home orders in all regions of the state on Monday. Mederios Babb of KSEE24 News was the first to report it in on Twitter late last night.

Since she broke this news, several reputable news sources such as ABC, NBC, and FOX have also reported that Governor Newsom is expected to lift the stay-at-home orders on Monday. How does this affect the Disneyland Resort? In the short term, it means that outdoor dining can resume at many of the quick-service and other table service dining locations in Downtown Disney. Many locations within the recently reopened Buena Vista Street extension of Downtown Disney were only open for a few short weeks before being shut down due to Newsom’s restrictions in early December. How quickly restaurants and eateries reopen remains to be seen, but if this news proves true then we should see outdoor dining in the Purple Tier return to the Downtown Disney district soon.
**Update**
California has made it official with a press release; they lifted the regional stay at home order for all areas statewide on Monday morning, including the San Joaquin Valley, Southern California, and the Bay Area where ICU capacities still remain under 15%. In the press release, health officials said the four-week projection for ICU capacity in the three regions were expected to reach above 15% which is their reason for rescinding the stay-at-home order.
