The Lunar New Year celebration is underway at Disney California Adventure park. We had the opportunity to check out the various offerings this weekend. Here is our review of the Prosperity Bao & Buns booth.
Mickey Chinese Hot Dog Bun ($7.00)
This is a returning item from last year’s celebration. Again, I liked this more than I probably should have. It reminded me of a bagel-like, focaccia bread hybrid with little hot dog pieces. Great? No. As hot as it should be? No. Yet I enjoyed it. 7/10 from me. What can I say? I feel like this might be divisive taste wise, but can we all agree that it being Mickey shaped kicks it up a notch?
Char Siu Pork Bao – $7.75
The Char Siu Pork Bao has Chinese BBQ Pork, Pickled Red Onions, and Jalapeño. It’s small, but has a lot of flavor due to the red onion and jalapeño. The pork itself was average, but with the toppings it worked well for me.
Mango-Pineapple Pastry ($5.50)
The Mango-Pineapple Pastry has layers of flaky Pastry filled with Pineapple Jelly and Diced Mango. We liked this one a lot – it reminded us of the hand pies from McDonald’s (in a good way).
