Review: Flight of Ice Creams in Downtown Disney

With no annual pass program or frequent visitor program announced by Disneyland, many guests are heading to the Disneyland Resort solely for the purpose of visiting Downtown Disney. If you’re among the former annual passholders looking for a little magic and a lot of fun ice cream to try, then this treat is definitely for you. Salt & Straw in Downtown Disney has been serving up delicious ice cream for several years now in Downtown Disney since they replaced the former tenant, Häagen-Dazs. They offer a flight of ice creams which includes four scoops of ice cream in a tray.

Ice Cream Flight

Want to try four different flavors and/or just indulge your sweet tooth? Salt & Straw has a flight of ice creams complete with waffle cone discs for $14.75. We tried the Wild-foraged Berry Slab Pie, Sea Salt with Caramel Ribbons, Chocolate Gooey Brownie, and Salted Malted Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. Perfect for our family AND we got to try 4 flavors. All the flavors are on the regular menu except the Wild-foraged Berry Slab Pie which is available this month only at Salt & Straw. Below you will find all the official item descriptions from Salt & Straw. All four flavors were excellent in our opinion, but the Wild-foraged Berry Slab Pie is definitely one that pie lovers will want to indulge in before it leaves at the end of the month.

Wild-foraged Berry Slab Pie

Close your eyes and imagine classic Berry Pie à la mode: Wild Berries plucked from the alpine slopes of Mt. Baker in Washington, simmered into an ooey-gooey Filling, then slathered across crispy bits of Double-baked Pie Crust and strewn about a Salted Vanilla Ice Cream, Jackson Pollock-style. Now open your eyes — no, you’re not dreaming.

Sea Salt with Caramel Ribbons

We created this Ice Cream with Mark Bitterman, the owner and “selmelier” at The Meadow, the internationally renowned Portland Salt shop. He actually wrote the book on Salt, Salted, a James Beard Award winning cookbook. We use their Fleur de Sel, which is made in Guatemala from Salt pans that are famed for supplying the Mayan Empire at the height of its power. We’ve topped it off by ribboning in Hand-burned Caramel that we make in house!

Rich, chunky bites of chewy salty and malty Homemade Cookie Dough. Mixed into a super Vanilla-y Ice Cream and finished with licks of Malted Fudge Swirls.

Chocolate Gooey Brownie

This is Chocolate Ice Cream at its simplest and most indulgent. We’ve teamed up with Valrhona to make a base that is rich, dark, fudgy, and chocolatey. Our in-house baked, gooey Brownies have Marshmallows baked into them to create a Brownie that treads awfully close to the point of being Fudge.
