Bob Chapek announced Disney’s intentions to reopen both Disneyland Resort theme parks in late April during the Annual Shareholder Meeting earlier today. It was revealed last Friday that California theme parks can reopen April 1st under updated guidelines from the state’s health department. This comes following a year of being closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Here is the statement from Chapek:
Beginning April 1st California theme parks can reopen at 15% capacity in the red tier. Capacity levels will increase to 25% when the orange tier is reached, and 35% capacity when the yellow tier is reached. Lastly, theme park attendance will be limited to California residents only, for the time being. See the tier system specifics below:
All of these opening projections are based on the belief that Orange County, where Disneyland is located, will be in the red tier or better by late April. As of this publishing date they are still in the purple tier, but numbers have been trending in a better position, so it does seem likely that they will be in the red tier by late April.
