Galaxy’s Edge is open and getting most of the attention at the Disneyland Resort, and rightfully so! We went to Galaxy’s Edge and had some first thoughts as well as some tips for your visit to Galaxy’s Edge. Right now we wanted to fill you in on some new menu items that have been added to your options recently at the Disneyland Resort. From Jolly Holiday all the way to Whitewater Snacks in the Grand Californian Hotel there is something for everyone!
Disneyland Park
Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe
Coconut “Tinker Bell” Cheesecake ($5.79)
Tinkerbell finally gets her own themed dessert! While this cheesecake wasn’t the best cheesecake I’ve ever had, that doesn’t mean it was bad. In fact, I quite enjoyed it! I’m not much of a coconut fan, so I was surprised that I liked it. The coconut was not a strong flavor though I could still taste it. I’ve always found the cheesecakes at Jolly Holiday to be very tasty. I’d give the flavor a solid 4/5 rating. The design of this cheesecake? Simply marvelous! This is definitely my favorite cheesecake aesthetically. So beautiful to look at! We walked over to Pixie Hollow to see if we could get a picture of it with Tink herself, but it was already closed for the day. Grab this one and show it off on your Instagram feed!
Chocolate Peanut Butter Hand Pie ($4.99)
This flaky and soft pastry hand pie is new and also pretty darn good. I’m normally opposed to paying 5 bucks for a glorified pop tart, but the chocolate peanut butter combo sold me on trying this one. It had good flavor and was crumbly (but not too crumbly, if that makes sense). I’d say that it was good, but not great. For the size of the pastry you can get something a little more filling if you’re so inclined, but it’s still worth trying once if you’re a big chocolate peanut butter fan like I am.
S’more Brownie ($4.99)
This brownie is like a hybrid of a cupcake and a brownie. It has toasted miniature marshmallows on top with shards of graham cracker, and tiny chocolate chips. Get this one with your favorite beverage because it is rich! We love the iced lattes at Jolly Holiday.
Cookies ‘n Milk Macaron ($5.99)
We didn’t try this one personally, but know someone who did and they describe it as a strange macaron because it has a ring of cookie dough filling with a milky disc in the middle of the cookie dough ring. They said it wasn’t bad but not something they’d get again. When we try it ourselves we will update this entr
Steamboat Willie Cupcake ($3.99)
This cupcake is a light cake (yellow/white) cupcake with loads of frosting (gray). Inside is a raspberry/boysenberry type filling. They add lots of chocolate chips and some cream cheese frosting on top along with the iconic Steamboat Willie disc. Grab this one if you like cake with berry filling!
Pineapple Donut ($5.99)
Put simply, this is my favorite donut – ever. It is a yeast donut filled with luscious pineapple filling. The top of the donut has pineapple icing and a marshmallow meringue topping. Together they come together for the most magical donut experience I’ve ever had. I would buy this every day if I could. It’s that good.
Hungry Bear Restaurant
Chocolate and Coffee Funnel Cake ($7.99)
This seasonal funnel cake comes topped with chocolate hazelnut spread, whipped cream and espresso chip ice cream. It was legit 10 out 10 for me until I ran out of the espresso chip ice cream. After that it was a little dry and not quite as good (about 1/3 of the way through the funnel cake). Still, definitely recommend trying this one if you are a coffee fan or chocolate hazelnut fan.
Mint Julep Bar
Watermelon Julep ($4.49)
This new item offers a twist on the classic Mint Julep. It has a subtle watermelon flavor with that classic fresh mint after-taste. It is topped with a watermelon slice, a seasoning (or spice?), and the classic mint-garnish. I’m going to go ahead and say it – I liked this better than the current Mint Julep! It was really light and refreshing. I’ll definitely hit this up again as the heat from summer starts beating down us.
Critter Country Churro Cart
S’more Churro
You can find this in critter country for a limited time. It was good! I was expecting it to taste like sugar overload, but it was just right. Dipping it gives it the right flavor, so make sure you dip the graham cracker churro in the chocolate-marshmallow dip!
Disney California Adventure
Schmoozies Menu Updates
Sorcerer Mickey Shake ($7.49)
This shake is nearly identical to the Get Your Ears On celebration shake, but they’ve updated the cup trimmings and the color of the whipped topping to match Sorcerer Mickey. It is still a really tasty shake! It is acookies and cream shake with blue whipped cream and chocolate cream-filled cookie ears.
LemonBlueberryMagic ($8.99)
This big cronut styled donut is a flaky donut with lemon-blueberry filling, topped with sprinkles and chocolate accents. We haven’t personally tried it yet, but have heard mostly positive reviews. For $8.99 it should be good. If you’ve tried it, let us know what you thought about it.
Sandianada Smoothie and Mangonada Smoothie ($7.49)
The Sandianada Smoothie is a watermelon smoothie with chamoy and watermelon pieces, topped with chile candy. The Mangonada Smoothieis a mango smoothie with chamoy and mango pieces, topped with chile candy. Both sound refreshing if you enjoy these style treats.
Award Wieners
Lava Dog ($9.79)
All-beef hot dog topped with pulled pork, teriyaki sauce, and pineapple salsa. That pineapple salsa makes this one for me. So good! The pulled pork with teriyaki gives it a rich, pacific rim flavor that satisfied me in a way that I didn’t expect it to when I purchased this item. Definitely grabbing this one again before it goes away!
Lava Fries ($8.49)
Filmstrip fries topped with pulled pork, teriyaki sauce, and pineapple salsa. These are VERY good (expert analysis, right?!). I felt like I got more than my money’s worth with these loaded Lava Fries. The pulled pork, teriyaki, and pineapple salsa were on point! Seriously considered buying a 2nd helping of these even though I was full. They’re that good.
Sorcerer Micky Funnel Cake Fries ($7.99)
These are funnel cake fries dusted with chocolate cream-filled cookies, topped with cookies and cream sauce, red and yellow icings, whipped cream, and chocolate cream-filled cookie ears. Like the Sorcerer Micky Shake at Schmoozies these funnel cake fries are very similar to the Get Your Ears On celebration funnel cake fries – with a Sorcerer Mickey blue colored whipped topping and different sprinkles. If you enjoyed that funnel cake fry option then you’ll most likely enjoy this one as well.
Cozy Cones
Red’s Hot Chicken Cone ($8.49 at Cone #3)
This new cone is spicy buffalo chicken, creamy ranch dressing, carrots and celery, topped with crumbled blue cheese.
Cozy Corn ($6.49 at Cone #5)
These new cozy corns are a fun take on traditional elote. The Cozy Corn is buttered corn on the cob, brushed with spicy lime mayo, rolled in choice of cotija, cheese puffs or spicy cheese puffs.
Sally’s Summer Churro ($5.29 at Cone#1)
A churro rolled in graham cracker sugar, topped with strawberry sauce and cream cheese icing.
Downtown Disney (The Grand Californian Hotel)
Head on over to Whitewater Snacks at the Grand Californian Hotel for these new donuts. The best part of Whitewater Snacks is that you do not need a park ticket to get into Whitewater to eat. So if you are blocked out or just want a little Disney magic you can eat at Whitewater. The force is with us with these donuts for sure! They are soft cake donuts with a blueberry like frosting on top. The space rocks are chocolate and the x-wing and r2 are like a white chocolate. I’m contemplating buying more and taking them into Galaxy’s Edge when I visit Batuu again!
In addition to the above mentioned foods and drinks we recently wrote about the New Beast Burger at Red Rose Taverne and the new breakfast menu at Red Rose Taverne. There are PLENTY of new options for those who are looking for something new to munch on!
