The wait is almost over for out-of-state guests to return to the Disneyland Resort. Today the state of California reiterated their intentions to fully reopen on June 15th. Disneyland has not made an official announcement on this topic, but it seems likely that this will be when out-of-state guests will be able to return to the Happiest Place on Earth. Starting June 15th, Californians will look little like it has for the past year – businesses can open their doors without COVID-19 restrictions on capacity or requirements for physical distancing. Also, according to the state, people who are fully vaccinated will no longer need to wear masks in most situations.
“We’re at a point where we can actually move beyond saying we expect to open on June 15, to confirming that we’re opening up June 15,” senior advisor to Gov. Gavin Newsom, Dee Dee Myers, said in a media briefing.
The state will recommend verification of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test at outdoor events with over 10,000 participants. Or, if the person is neither vaccinated nor tested, venues can give them the option to attend but with a mask required. At indoor venues with more than 5,000 guests, the state is now requiring, not just recommending, verification of vaccination or a negative coronavirus test.
How Does This Impact Disneyland?
This is our speculation on how it will impact Disneyland and DCA. It seems that capacity in the Parks will go up and beyond the current 35% capacity limitation. Disney has not announced that they will open up to out-of-state guests, but it seems likely that this news will be coming soon. Additionally, the physical distance requirements will be lifted which will help with crowds in walkways in the Parks (indoor queuing will return). Lastly, the health and temperature screening check will most likely be a thing of the past (still awaiting word from Disney on this).
