Since Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opened on May 31st people have been wondering when the other attraction “Rise of the Resistance” would open. The land opened with only one functioning ride – Smuggler’s Run. Thanks to the Disney Parks Blog we now have an official opening date – Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will open on Friday, Jan. 17, 2020.
Originally we were told “later this year,” but even though it’s not going to be here by the end of 2019 it feels good to have an opening date officially set in stone. This January opening date can only help keep the crowd levels up at Disneyland in the “off-season.”
Here is the official synopsis from the Parks Blog:
“When it opens, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will blur the lines between fantasy and reality and will put guests in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance. Guests will be recruited to join Rey and General Organa at a secret base. Along the way, they will be captured by a First Order Star Destroyer. With the help of some heroes of the Resistance, they break out and must escape the Star Destroyer, protect the secret base, and stay one step ahead of Kylo Ren.”
