REVIEW: Alfresco Tasting Terrace – Legacy Passholder Dining

Alfresco Tasting Terrace is exclusively dedicated to Disneyland Legacy Passholders at Disney California Adventure park, located on a terrace above the Wine Country Trattoria. The upstairs, outdoor lounge is made for relaxing with seating under wooden pergolas. The lounge is exclusive for Legacy Passholders, but there is a bit of good news – a Legacy Passholder can bring non-Legacy Passholders to the Terrace (only one LP needed per party). The views looking back at Buena Vista Street, Cars Land, and the Pacific Wharf are beautiful.

Bites and Appetizers

Condor Flats-Bread ($16.00) – Duck Confit, Goat Cheese, Seedless Grapes, Green Salad and Fig Jam

No description available.
The Condor Flats, named for the former Condor Flats land that was home to Soarin’ Over California and Taste Pilot’s Grill. bread was very much like a fancy flat bread pizza. The duck was tender, the arugula gave a nice freshness that paired well with the fig jam, goat cheese, jam and seedless grapes. 3/5 rating

Bountiful Valley Charcuterie ($18.00) – Chef’s selection of Cheeses and Meats

No description available.

Named after the long gone Bountiful Valley Farm land this assorted selection of meats, cheeses, bread, and figs, grapes, and olives was quite delightful. This was one we all grazed over for the entire experience as we enjoyed our drinks. There is a type of cheese for just about every type of cheese fan, including soft cheeses like brie. 4.5/5 rating

Screamin’ Cauliflower Ceviche ($14.00) – Citrus-marinated Cauliflower, Cucumber, Tomato, Mango, Onions, Cilantro, Jalapeños and Avocado, with crispy Tortilla Chips and Mango-Habanero Sauce

No description available.
The name is an ode to California Screamin’ and this dish will definitely make you scream from the spice when you pour the sauce (not pictured) on top. Thankfully, you can control the amount of sauce you pour over this ceviche. It is a vegan dish that is an interesting take on ceviche in our opinion. The best part, for me, was the avocado on top. I found myself wishing that it had been made with shrimp or a white fish. That being said, it is nice for vegans to have an option to enjoy. I found the cauliflower to be a bit on the odd side, but I’m not a big cauliflower fan, so that might explain that. Take my rating on this one with a grain of salt! 2.5/5en made with shrimp or a white fish. That being said, it is nice for vegans to have an option to enjoy. I found the cauliflower to be a bit on the odd side, but I’m not a big cauliflower fan, so that might explain that. Take my rating on this one with a grain of salt! 2.5/5

Mulholland Meatballs ($16.00) – House-made Meatballs, Spicy Creamy Tomato Sauce, Charred Broccolini, Orange Segments, Pickled Red Onions, Whipped Burrata, and Shaved Crostini

No description available.
This dish was solid in terms of the taste, but the price seemed a bit high to me for what you got in return. Two meatballs (one cut in half) for $16.00? Not the best value, to be sure. The meatballs though were cooked perfectly, and the spicy sauce worked really well on this one (beware though if you are sensitive to spicy food/sauces). I used the whipped burrata to pair with my crostini and Broccolini. The Broccolini was charred nicely. 4/5 rating for taste; 2/5 rating for value.

Slider Invasion ($18.00) – Beef Tenderloin Sliders with Chimichurri and Pickled Red Onions

No description available.
Fans of our blog will remember that I liked this item from Cluck-a-Doodle Moo the first year it was offered, but last year, and then again at A Touch of Disney it was dry, subpar, and not worth your dollars. It makes a return here, but is light years better than the version we got from A Touch of Disney. The beef was juicy, medium (maybe even medium-rate), and wholly fresh when compared with the other version. $18 for two sliders is a steep price though, so while it was my favorite food in terms of taste from the Alfresco Tasting Terrace it isn’t the best value (that award goes to the charcuterie board in my opinion). Taste rating is 5/5; value rating is 2.5/5

Sunshine Plaza Signature Cocktails

5-4-3-2-1 ($15.00) – Captain Morgan Spiced Rum, Bols Blue Curaçao, Coconut-Pineapple Cream, Simple Syrup, fresh Lime Juice

No description available.
This drink was delicious! It had sweet, tropical vibes. Toward the end of the drink the pineapple-coconut cream gave it an added level of tropical flavor and creaminess. Also, would you look at how gorgeous this drink is? Definitely an eye-pleaser on a beautiful day.

Drop In… If you Dare ($17.00) – Hendrick’s Gin, St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur, fresh Lemon Juice, and Maraschino Cherry Mix

No description available.

The included cherry mix gets squeezed/”dropped” into the drink to turn swirl around before, ultimately, turning the drink red. Our friend Eric (DorkyDisneyDad on Instagram) said that he enjoyed it, but cautioned that he wouldn’t squeeze all of the cherry inside next time.

The Stinger ($15.00) – Dulce Vida Pineapple-Jalapeño Tequila, Cointreau and House-made Orange-Habañero Simple Syrup

No description available.

Check out this video from Wonders of Magic where they review this drink! They enjoyed it!

A Bug’s Drink (Non-Alcoholic) ($5.75) – Minute Maid Lemonade with Granny Smith Apple Syrup, with fresh Watermelon

No description available.
This super sweet drink is fun and perfect for kids. It has Minute Maid Lemonade with Granny Smith Apple Syrup, with fresh Watermelon juice on top. Also, love the nod to Heimlech’s Chew Chew Train with the watermelon wedge at the top of the drink!

Conclusion

We enjoyed our time at this lounge. Be careful though, because on a day-by-day ticket where hours are precious (compared to when we could leisurely enjoy the parks due to having annual passes), you can lose two or more hours of your park day without noticing it. They gave us a reusable bamboo straw at the conclusion of the meal which was both fun and a bit of a sad thing. Fun because it’s a nice straw that will be reusable in the parks, but it says “annual passholder” on it.

If you’re looking for a relaxing afternoon/evening experience with fun drinks and appetizers, this would be a great place to visit. No word from Disney about how long this experience will be available. Reservations are recommended, but you can try walking-up for seating. We were able to walk up but were told that this isn’t always available.
