Today we ventured to the Downtown Disney District and discovered two new things at Starbucks – a new Frappuccino and new color changing cups. To be clear, these are not exclusive to the Disneyland Resort. To the best of our knowledge you can acquire them at any Starbucks location that has them. The new Frappuccino is a Strawberry Funnel Cake flavored beverage, and the color changing cups are swirls of color or confetti.
Strawberry Funnel Cake Frappuccino
I knew I had to try this Frappuccino when I saw that it was new on the menu. We opted for the creme based version on this one, but I definitely am looking forward to trying it with the coffee/espresso base next time! It has funnel cake–flavored syrup blended with coffee or creme base, milk and ice, layered with strawberry puree, whipped cream and powdered-sugar-funnel-cake pieces. The good news is that you can grab this Frappuccino at any Starbucks not just at the Starbucks in downtown Disney. As for the quality of the drink – it’s essentially dessert in a cup. If you are a fan of strawberry funnel cakes or strawberry shortcake then this is a Frappuccino you’ll probably enjoy. If those types of desserts are not your favorite desserts then you might want to skip this one.
New Color Changing Cups
We also spotted, and had to buy, two of the new color changing cups. When you pour ice cold liquid into the cups they change colors. If you look at the picture above you can see that these new cups developed colorful swirls in the cup when we added cold liquid to them. They also have a confetti version that they sell in a pack of 4 (see the video below for the non color changed version of that one).
